Typical Casino Poker Chip Colors and Denominations

out here in LA we have some strange colors for different sized chips, but isn't there something of a standard in vegas/east coast casinos? is the below list at all close?

$.5 orange crappy chip
$1 blue plastic chip
$2.50 pink plastic chip
$5 red plastic chip
$10 yellow plastic chip
$20 gray clay chip
$25 green clay chip
$50 yellow clay chip
$100 white clay chip
$500 black clay chip
$1000 gold clay chip
etc.

I thought I was the only one nerdy enough to notice this stuff! You can edit the California colors there, or any other colors in any particular cardroom's article, so go knock yourself out. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

In AC colors are actually dictated by law. Sadly I believe this means it would be impossible to get a $2 chip for 6/12 :-( Well, maybe if you lobby enough, but I doubt the casino cares that much...

$2, $3, $10, and $20 chips are uncommon outside of California except in a few vegas poker rooms (never, ever seen any of these in pit games).

Well, $2 chips aren't uncommon to anyone who's played the low-limits the past few years at Foxwoods! And I recall a $2 yellow at Casino del Sol in Arizona. But I grant you, there aren't too many non-CA rooms with $2 chips.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Mohegan Sun has a $3 chip for some purpose (the pics I saw had a turtle on them) but I don't know what those are used for, since they no longer have a poker room. Turning Stone has a $3 rake chip but it's not sold to the public.

$10 and $20 are used for the high limits at the Borgata and Bellagio, but AFAIK you're right that they never make it out of the poker room.

There is a room here that has 2 dollar yellow chips for 4/8. Here being Deadwood, SD and the casino is the Silverado. Have not sat in the game but I think only yellows and whites play.

The turtles were used for the $3-6 poker games. They are now obsolete, and no longer available.

You can find a few blue $20 and yellow $20 chips in AC, used for Pai Gow I believe but they find there way into poker rooms ocassionally.
