When I lived in FL, I often had Xmas dinner with my wife's sister (and since my family is Jewish, having Xmas with them seemed silly). She and her husband live on a golf course, and we always went out onto the closed course and played 9 holes in the afternoon.

Why is poker on Xmas wrong? I'll prolly hit Canterbury at about 9pm on Xmas, which is after the kids are in bed. After a day of Xmas with the kids, I deserve a break, no?

Try getting a home game going with some of your buddies after everyone is done wasting presents and all that other good stuff.

People are a little more "giving" around the holiday times and its a good time to take advantage of that to make up for the BR $ you lost buying gifts for everyone...

Just give "poker lessons" for Christmas gifts. Earns you money, doesn't deplete your bankroll, gives them teh skills to play on teh intarnet.
