Re: Two Guardian Articles on Party Poker
If they are in danger of getting arrested in the US, how did they get on the cruise in SD? I bet they needed to apply for visas, no?

Re: Two Guardian Articles on Party Poker
This could make for an interesting legal battle. Possibly going all the way to the supreme court. It could result in legalization and taxation of internet gaming companies inside the borders of the US, ultimately. I am looking forward to it. I bet that the porn princess hires the best lawyers in the country and pays them truckloads of cash to fight it. There is just too much money at stake here and the feds have fired their warning shot. Wait for Party Gaming to shoot back.

Re: Two Guardian Articles on Party Poker
I want to know more about how the USDOJ works in light of case-law, etc. Do people consider Online Gambling a "grey" area simply because there is inconsistancy w/in our own Justice System as to the relevancy of existing laws? How do the WTO's recent rulings effect the USDOJ's perspective on the issue and obviously how they will respond in the future?
Does this topic need to be carried over to another forum or is it still kosher (topic being "The USDOJ and the Legality of Online Gambling in the U.S.")? |

Re: Two Guardian Articles on Party Poker
I've often wondered what Dikshit wrote Party's software.

Surely running a sportsbook is totally different legally to merely facilitating the rendezvous of various poker players around virtual tables for a modest fee

Poker is treated like any other form of gambling. There are some interesting cases (CA and WA) but even these are highly regulated. |

http://www.freejaycohen.com/ http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/cohen.htm Isn't this an entirely different ordeal since sportsbetting is ENTIRELY illegal in the US? His Sportsbook hosted wagering from U.S. citizens for U.S. sports teams... so it makes sense that the USDOJ would use the Wire Act as support in such a case, however, I can't see where justice is served when our Gov. has done nothing to regulate American's internet use so far. It's still a GLOBAL forum. [/ QUOTE ] If this is true, how do you explain Vegas? |
