Should I get dedicated antikeylogging software?
On my new laptop I have McAfee SecurityCenter installed (which includes antivirus and antispyware software) and from time to time I also run Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware.
Is it advisable in addition to install a dedicated antikeylogger, or is that just being too paranoid? Obviously someone could do a lot of damage if they found out my poker passwords. The two antikeyloggers I've come across are: http://www.styopkin.com/keylogger_hunter.html http://www.anti-keyloggers.com/ |

Re: Should I get dedicated antikeylogging software?
My personal experience is that PestPatrol will detect keyloggers whereas other antivirus and spyware stuff will not.
Probably best though if you have a lot of money on the line is to have a "clean" computer for online transactions and poker. Have another oomputer to download crap and play with. |

That sounds pretty paranoid mbe (and that's coming from a security researcher/consultant). You may follow OR's advice and use a dedicated computer, or use something like VMware or Virtual PC to maintain a 'quarantined' type environment for this kind of stuff.
Me, though, I just use my normal laptop/desktop (of course they are both locked down fairly decently). |
