Default So is 6-max supposed to be this easy? (Half brag, half content)

So I just finished 61 hands at the best 1/2 6-max table in the history of man. I think I saw two pf raises the entire time I was there (not counting mine), players folded to any aggression on the turn (or if the flop was scary), and NEVER played back. No, I'm sorry. That's not true. Twice people played back at me when they hit strong hands (top 2 and trips), and I made a better one by the river.

61 hands. 99.18BB/100.

So what kind of tears have you gone on?

Here's the content part: I hear over and over that 6-max is much more swingy. I have just short of 1,000 hands (a sample size not even worth mentioning, i know), but even without counting today's brief session, I'm at 5.8BB/100. I know part of that is running well. The thing is, I'm not sure how much.

When I heard that it was swingy, I took that to mean that with the extra aggression that one sees, your stack in any given session can swing wildly. I have not been seeing that at all (not counting today's session). At least no more than 1/2 full. Is 6-max's "swinginess" more longterm? As in I may be up a lot now, but there may be a 150BB downswing in my near future.

So... what should I expect as far as swinginess? Is 1/2 6-max simply that easy? Or have I just been incredibly lucky over the past 1,000 hands?

And yes, yes, yes. Small sample size.

No, it is not that easy. Expect some fun 100 BB downswings, and hair-pulling variance.

1/2 6max is really hard. you are probably the best poker player on the planet. it's cool to brag about this type of stuff. make a post after 10,000 hands please, not before. less than 1000 is nothing. sorry to tell you this post was pointless.

Whereas I have yet to see you post anything not saturated with bitterness and hostility. Congratulations on being the first person to make my ignore list.

Great session. It does however contribute to the definition of "swingy"

yes the upswings at 6max are better than the upswings at full ring, but the downswings are bigger and more frequent

if you go through a 150BB downswing over the next 2k hands, you will be ~90BB in the red or ~ -3BB/100

30-60BB drops are very frequent(and 60BB would put you about breakeven)

yes its fun while running hot(I am right now at 3/6 6max) but you have to be prepared for it to get ugly

good luck maintaining it

Just an fyi, after 1500 hands of .5/1 I was at 18BB/100. Yes, it came down to about 5BB/100 after 10,000 hands.

But I have to say the stars 1/2 game is even softer if you can believe it, although I'm "only" beating it for 3.3BB

1/2 6-max is very easy and swingy.

I had a 300 BB downswing there.
