Default Dumbest Fold of my life?

So we were down to 5 at a 500 buy in limit tourney at a local casino in LA. This was my first tourney for over a 200 buy in, so I was pretty ecstatic to be where i was. Anyhow, we are down to five players, blinds are 1k-2K. Avg stack is about 40 K. The stacks lookes like this:

UTG: 40K fold
Hero: 11K As9c raise
Button: fold
SB: 45K reraise
BB: folds
Hero: Accidentally cap

I don't know if it was late, or Ive been playing poker for 10 hours, final talbe pressure or what, but i accidentally capped preflop. I know the reraiser is extremely tight and most likely had AK, AA, KK, or QQ. Flop came j6c8c. He bets and I fold. How moronic was this really? Was the raise wrong? I mean, i was so short stacked and A9 five handed seemed decent enough. My main question is: Am I right in thinking that my fold was just atrocious, considering the amount of money in the flop? I appologize for the incoherence of this message, as it is my first post. Thanks.

Im no expert but I wouldnt beat yourself up over it, your first tourney over 200 and you obviously played very well to go so far. With 5 left you gotta be aggresive. Only mistake I can see is the fold after the flop, you learn from your mistakes. Ive done it too many times and am still trying to learn

If you put the reraiser on a big hand, I don't see why you would put in that last raise preflop - just doesn't make any sense. On the flop, was this all clubs or just 2 clubs? The post is not clear. If it's all clubs, certainly do not fold. If it's 2-suited then you really don't have enough chips to screw around and you should fold. In fact, so short stacked I'm not sure I would use the A9o to try and take a stand with.

The mistake is obviously capping preflop, but you knew that. When you say the blinds are 1k/2k, do you mean the stakes are 1k/2k or stakes are 2k/4k with 1k/2k blinds?
