Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
So I'm heading down to LA for a short little trip. Plan to hit up Commerce Casino on Monday night. A couple of questions:
1) Mine as well start out with this. I'm 3 months shy of 21, so playing isn't going to exactly be on the up and up. What is the latest on Commernce IDing and is there any particular way I should go in to ensure minimal risk of getting carding? Also, probably not wise to carry my real ID on me, right? 2) Limits that are being spread at this time (Monday night after 7 or so)? Also, usual wait times? I'm going mostly for entertainment so whatever limit I can get a full ring game with about 2 tables going (in case I want to switch) and not ridiculously tough competition I'm game for. I'd be willing to play like 3-6 to 20/40 (like I said, it's mainly for fun). 3) What's the rake structure? 4) Bar situation? (Not for me, not that daring) Thanks in advance guys. Oh and if anyone else will be there that night, give me a PM and maybe we can meet up. |

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
1) I know people who have played steadily at Commerce under 21. Monday nights there are less players, so there is a bigger chance you'll get carded, but it is still slim.
2) Everything is being spread. I haven't played higher than 6/12, but there should no significant wait times on a Monday. 3) It depends. 4) They have a sports bar that I've never been into. |

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
Just a follow up, probably will play 6-12 or 9-18 (is there anything in between.. say a pink chip game?); what am I looking at for rake? Also, how many tables going?
Hmmm, random thought, what is the lowest limit game they spread? I am thinking of staking my brother (he is going with me just to get drunk, but I wouldn't mind staking him, especially if there is a 1-2... and hell I'd go sit with him for a while to watch the comedy). |

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
Lowest they have is $1/2. I'm not sure about the rake at 6/12 or 9/18, but my brother plays 9/18 regularly so I will ask him. I have heard 9/18 plays like a 3/6, and they run more tables of that than they do 6/12.
I've seen lots of iPods, so headphones are OK. |

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
Sweet, sounds like I will be playing 9/18 (shouldn't be too much trouble, normally 8 table 5/10 online, occassionally 15/30.. I'm bankrolled for 15/30 but not really comfortable with it yet). But I think first, I'll go play some 1/2 with my brother so I can watch him piss away $100 or so of my money.
Thanks for your help. Now, let's just hope I don't get kicked out (they will let me cash out, right?). |

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
Drop at $9-18 is very high. They drop $4 plus $1 for jackpot each hand.
Never play heads up in the blinds. Chop every time. They drop only $1 if you chop. Some idiots that are not even +ev players will insist on playing the blinds. Do not allow this, even if you have to buy the idiot a drink. Friday and Saturday night are infinitely better than Monday night. |

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
It's all relative, my man. $4+1 at 9/18 is nothing compared to the 10% capped at $5+1 on the 3/6 and 5/10 games here in Detroit.

Re: Heading down to Commerce (12/27)... questions
Hi Metetron,
What is the latest on Commernce IDing and is there any particular way I should go in to ensure minimal risk of getting carding? Go in through the valet entrance where the automatic doors are. Limits that are being spread at this time (Monday night after 7 or so)? This is the Mecca. There are always games spread. Wait times are minimal compared to the rest of the country. |
