Default Wynn $3 chips / Excalibur limits

I would like to play the 4/8 or 8/16 game at Wynn, however I am so disturbed by the idea of $3 chips that I will not play there if these chips are used.

Does anybody know if $3 chips are used in the 4/8 or 8/16 games?

Also, on a completely different note, anybody know if the Excalibur spreads any limit games higher then 4/8, particularly on weekends?

Thanks much.

The $3 chips were only being used for the 6/12 O/8B (full kill) game when I was there. And no the excalibur doesn't spread higher than 4/8, even on weekends.

The Wynn uses $2 chips for 8/16, which I like. The Bellagio uses a combo of $5 and $1 chips for 8/16, which I think is incredibly dumb. Still, when I played at the Wynn people were complaining about the $2 chips, although they could not articulate any reasonable rationale for this view when I pressed them.

This reminds me of a great Tommy Angelo article. Here is the link. Enjoy.

I've only been to the Excalibur a few times but when I was there they had 1-3 spread limit and 2-6 spread limit.

What?!?!?

I'll tell you why... if I cold call a $32 raise I've got to count out 16 blue $2 chips. I'm sure for someone who's used to it they can do it in a flash, but trust me, if you get a bunch of people who aren't used to it, we're going to be holding up your game until we get better at it. Why not use $5 and $1 chips? Heck, the Mirage uses 5 & 1 for the 6/12 game.

get more chips into the pot to make the pot look bigger to make it look like your going to win more money to make your stacks in front of you bigger to make people think they need to call because their are sooo many chips in the pot---
That is way some places use a chip count like this -----
Why make it easy to put chips in the pot----

Pull out a stack of blues, remove four from the top and you have sixteen.
