Default Okay, here are the Challange types to vote on by Wed 10/8/03

Okay, there have been several proposals for this challenge. Here are the options for us to vote on:

Contest One- Easy E's Handicappers Challenge

Games- I pick 6 games from the current week for everyone to handicap against. You don't have to pick each game, but if you pick a game, you must also pick against the spread for that game

Scoring- +1 for actual game winner, +2 MORE for correctly picking spread winner (since, as gamblers, that is more important usually)
-1 for picking wrong against the spread. (OPTION- if we don't force people to pick against the spread, does this change?)

(this is slightly modified from what I used in posting last week's results)

QUESTION- if the points make it a tie, such as Packers/Lions last week, then you get +1 instead of +2 for not losing some of your bankroll in the real world?

Contest Two- Wildbill's Survival Challenge

Games- Each player has to pick 5 games against the spread
Scoring- +1 for each winning spread/cover pick (ties are 0 points). Anyone not .500 or above is eliminated.

QUESTION- Do we restart the WSC once the first survivor has won? If there is more than one survivor throughout the season, they go head to head during playoffs in sudden death

Contest Three- fatherpimp's Rank'em Challenge
Games- Each player has to pick 4 games (against the spread?) and rank them top to bottom

Scoring- +4 points for top game, +3 for second game, etc.

QUESTION- fatherpimp, if the spread makes a tie, what happens to the points? Do you still get them because you didn't "lose"?

Contest Four- Easy E's Bet your Bankroll Challenge

Games- Each player picks 1 or more games to bet an initial $500 bankroll on. Players can bet all, some or none of their bankroll (just like real life!)

Option I) Player MUST bet against the spread only.
Option II) Player can bet against the spread, or just bet the winner (can you do this in Vegas?), or a mix of winners-bets and/or spread-bets

Scoring- Player can spread their bankroll out on whatever games that they choose. No vig in this contest, so 1:1 payoffs. Total bankroll is available for the next week's challenge.

QUESTION- do we allow new handicappers in late, starting them at $500 also when they first pick? Or at $350 for not signing up on time?

OTHER GENERAL QUESTIONS/RULES:

a) All picks must be posted by Friday at 1:00 Pacific Time (or 4:00 Eastern time)
b) The line used for the spread will be the Tuesday afternoon line. When I can find it (anyone have a good early source I can get to online?), I'll put it in the thread

any other suggestions?

Reply to this post by Wednesday night, with all adjustments and suggestions (including questions and options listed) so we can set up the winning challenge structure to use Thursday morning.

Default Line we\'ll be using for whichever structure

This is the Stardust line as of 12:00 EDT on 10/7. I'll add the Bucs line when it came out later. This will be what we use for the spread bets

(why is the Tampa game currently OFF, anyway? Are they waiting to post a line, or is something else going on?)

Giants at Patriots -3
Bucs at Skins OFF?
Raiders at Browns -3
Pathers at Colts -5.5
Chiefs at Packers -2
Texans at Titans -10
Miami at Jax +3
Bears at Saints -5.5
Eagles at Boys +1
Bills at Jets +2.5
Steelers at Denver -7
Ravens at Cards +5.5
49ers at Seattle -3.5

MNF:
Atlanta at St Louis -11

I believe it is because Keyshawn Johnson is listed as Questionable.

He left the game with a "thigh bruise".

hey easy e, very well organized post!

i, of course, have to shamelessly vote for my own suggestion; heh.

we should definately use the spread for each game rather than wager lines, imo.
also, tie games shouldn't receive any points as "penalty" for selecting a game as a top bet when in actuality it was a close bet.

btw, my condolensces to those who took the bucs wager or spread for the game; what a tough way to lose a bet w/ 4 minutes left in the game.

adios.

All I've seen is that he "is questionable because of a left thigh bruise that kept him from playing in overtime against the Colts". My guess is that he is "day to day"

Alstott is out for the season with a neck injury.

It will keep the threads to a managable size.

Default hmmmm.... i could always consolidate them

have them send me their picks and put it all in one post/grid...

that would also prevent players from waiting for others' posts and working off of them....

your vote is noted.
