I have not been on PPM cruise but I have done basically the same trip and yes you should have your passport.

last year, i used my birth certificate, since
it was at the last minute i found out i was
going as a guest. You may want to try to get
a passport anyway, since I have had to get one
for Aruba.

I just used my birth certificate on last year's PPM as well.
