what do you think im up against in this spot? Is a set betting on the turn here, a check raise seems more appropriate?

He is not bet only in to you.. He must also be afraid of SB. My guess it is an absurd hand like a flushdraw including the 2 or a weird played set/big pair.

Villain is playing his hand weakly, you can take him off a weaker hand. You'll get more value from your JJ here too.

If i feel he is holding a weaker hand, isnt this situation WA/WB, and i should just call to induce a river bet? (assuming i think im ahead)

Nah, your hand is very vulnurable. Two flushdraws and lots of straightdraws out there.

Without any reads, it's a tough decision, leaning toward folding. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. If you have reads, it makes it a somewhat easier decision. There are players who play sets like that. If you're sure he's bluffing on a draw that didn't get there, call. He certainly is playing it that way. You need to know you're player. I certainly couldn't fault you for calling with the overpair.
