I hang up, I don't care what they think of me and I certainly don't have a need to talk to them.

WTF? Put yourself in their shoes.

It happens to me as well and doesn't bother. Someone called and hung up it's not like I start worrying who it was or what not.

I usually make an a big effort to treat people kindly but this isn' really an area I worry about.

"Yo XXX, what's going on"
"...I think you have the wrong.."
"So.. How've you been?"
"Uh.. sir? This isn't XXX.."
"I was wondering if you wanted to maybe grab some drinks later, maybe catch a movie or a show.."
"I'm hanging up now."
"I WATCH YOU EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY! DON'T PUSH ME AWAY!!!!!!!!!!"

I always say "sorry, wrong number" now. One time I didn't and the person *69'ed me, which was irritating.

Courtesy of Dennis Miller:

You call somebody at 3:15 in the morning and get the wrong number, don't just say "Oh this isn't Charlene." (click). Say, "I'm very sorry to have pestered you, I am an assface."

I can't imagine why someone wouldn't say "Sorry, wrong number."

How 'bout dialing the wrong friend. As in if you mean to call "Quagmire" for instance, and you call "Joe". Do you try to play it off like you meant to call or just tell them you screwed up?
