Default Florida poker trip might be this weekend. Ocean jewel Hours?

I looked at their web site but couldn't work it out if they were open 24 hours on weekends.

I may have to break down and call.

Is the Ocean jewel my best bet for poker? probably staying at Auburndale Fl and will have a car. What is my best option?

I cannot help you this time Steam, but I am also going to FL soon. I'll be in Port St. Lucie, are there any poker games nearby, or even home games (pm me) that I could be invited to?

I'm clueless, Florida might be a poker wasteland or just a desert. A friend wants me to go along and help with the driving, but I would hate to drive 14 + hours for sucky poker.

14 hours? THAT is a waste. I know at the Hollywood Hard Rock they no longer have dealers, its all computerized now. Essentially it sucks. If you find a mid-limit home game, let me know

The best poker in FL is on the Sun Cruz boat at Port canaveral. I've heard bad things about ocean jewel - like all they have is 3/6 and one small NL game most of the time. Plus you have to take a shuttle 27 miles out instead of the 3 miles on the Atlantic side....

Port Canaveral is fairly close to Orlando. It's right next to NASA (i.e. Cape Canaveral).

The Ocean Jewel is not running 24 hours as was their plans to do. Also - you only go out 9 miles, not 27 as posted above, but that is still 6 miles further out than the east coast of Florida

Other poker options for you might be The Hard Rock casino the Seminoles have on I-4 just before Tampa. 50 tables, $2 bets. Also runs sit-n-goes with buy-ins around $110, some single table and sometimes mutli-table. This is a smoking card room.

Derby Lane - St. Petersburg - 45 tables, $2 bets w/a single $2 blind. Multi-table turbo tournaments throughout the night and a daily 100 or 120 person tournament with a $45 buy-in. Non-smoking room.

Port Canaveral has two big casino ships - the Sterling and a Sun Cruz ship. The driving time from Auburnadale to either Port Canaveral and the Port of St Petersburg is about 2 hours, maybe just a little less to St Petersburg.
