Default Middle Pair

First hand as I just sat at the table. I don't know anything about these guys.

This is something that always gets me. Middle pair, not just this hand, but middle pair on any board/hand.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP bets, SB folds, Hero...

I find myself getting caught in this situation A LOT of times.

Bet that board baby. You have the best hand so often here, it's a no brainer.

I raise and lead the turn. This looks like a purely positional flop bet.

Can this be said with alot of middle pair flops or is there something else to look at, like preflop betting patterns?

I love betting boards with Aces on them.

Is this sarcastic or not? MP didnt raise preflop, so the only ace he could logically have is ace-rag. I think that it is very likely hero has the best hand.

I would have bet this after one of my two opponents checked to me. You have middle pair with a high kicker. Only an Ace is likely to be ahead of you at this point, and there's no real reason to expect one at this point. If someone has an ace, it will be much easier to determine having bet into them rather than reacting to their bets.

I was being totally serious. People love folding when that Ace is out there. Bet this all day long.

This is probably a dumb question, but I need to know the answer...

If the hand he is likely to hold is A-rag, and there is an Ace on the board, should I just fold and move on?
Or is it because I don't have any reason to believe that he is holding an Ace at this point?
