Dan Harrington\'s \'Net Rich Guy Profile
Have you guys picked up HoH2 yet?
Pg. 296 The High-Tech Millionaire: "he is not playing poker for money, he is playing to show you how clever he is" "He will bluff liberally, and he will show you his cards.... so you will know how much smarter than you he is" "your move was brilliant, but I figured it out. ha ha ha" Who could he possibly be talking about?? |

Re: Dan Harrington\'s \'Net Rich Guy Profile
Paul Phillips is "dot-com"
Initially reading the thread, I thought it was Phil Gordon. |

I haven't gotten to that part and I don't have the book on me, but is he neccesarily talking about one specific individual, or merely a stereotype?

Oh come on guys he's referring to Paul Phillips and his WPT bluff show. LDT [/ QUOTE ] That's what I thought too, but I didn't get the impression that bluff was typical of his style or that he was doing it to show off how smart he was. On the other hand, I don't know of many dot-com millionaires who are high-profile poker players so I didn't know this was even a type. |

"I didn't get the impression that bluff was typical of his style or that he was doing it to show off how smart he was."
Paul Phillips may not typically show his bluffs, but there's not much doubt he enjoys showing off his intellect. It's a common failing of people who feel little more than contempt for people who don't have a high IQ. It's so desperately important to them that everyone understand they are not one of "those" people that they end-up devoting nearly every waking moment to proving it. It's a waste of time and energy. It's also not at all surprising that a man like Dan Harrington recognizes Paul Phillips for what he is. |
