good players will have your game pegged within 20 minutes and it won't matter for bad players

Only if you are really bad.

The point is even if you are really good, you are not going to fool a good player with a silly costume

I have fooled many good players by wearing The Gaming Club Jester Costume. Gets them everytime.

LOL, you should see the garb I wear when I play at the B&M. I believe that wearing clothes that make you feel good, relaxed, and confident are important. If you dress sloppy and feel sloppy because you did not shower or whatever, you may start to play sloppy. Also, the getup I wear really grabs attention, and when I walk into the poker room, people take notice. When I sit at a table, people are constantly aware of my presence, whether I'm in a pot or not, whether I'm betting or not. People miss value bets and raises when they play heads up with me, and I get more free cards in late position without even trying. Plus, I wear things that are loud and distracting, so that players may be so busy looking at all the accessories and whatever garb I wear that they may not pick up my tells as easily. I usually wear black leather shoes, black levis jeans, a black or white button down, a leather vest, a black leather cowboy aussie cowboy hat, a suede leather fringed jacket, black mirror sunglasses, 4-5 silver rings, a turquoise pendant, and sometimes I put a black and mild cigar in my mouth while I play.

To illustrate my point: when I was in a summer youth program in my late teens, there was about 200-300 of us enrolled in an 8-week program. There was one gentleman of asian decent who always wore these slightly loud purple plad wool pants, with a similiarly loud shirt, cap, slightly unusual malcom x type glasses, and he always smoked a clove cigarette. He wasnt much into the program, as he was usually socializing and hanging out, but when he walked into a room and you smelled that clove cigarette, you knew he was somewhere in the vacinity, and many years after the program ended, I have forgotten almost all of the guys who were there, except that one asian guy I still can recall because of his slightly odd and eccentric dress and the smell of his clove cigarette. When he entered a room, you may not have known who he was and he may have been a complete nobody, but he left a lasting impression and stood out from among the rest.

I make it a point to buy certain clothes for playing cards, and would almost never slum it to a B&M casino. There is a definite edge, but you have to have a sound game to begin with. If your basic strategy is flawed, wearing an intimidating outfit wont help your overall profits/losses, but if you are playing well, I feel, wearing the right clothes really helps.

I just wear clothes that are neat and comfortable. Usually I go for a long sleeved shirt and khakis along with a pair of soft shoes.

Unless you're a woman and have some low-cut tops handy, don't overthink what you're going to wear to play poker.
