If he has a vendetta against you and you feel that you are ahead, then you check with the intention of putting him all in unless he pushes himself, provided that you do not think that the J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is a scare card for him.

If you think that you are ahead and the J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] will cause him to check behind, then you should value bet.

If you are confident enough in your read that you think he has a boat, then you should check and call a reasonable bet (the read needs to be rock solid to fold here).

Bet/fold unless he'll bluff raise, then check/call a reasonable bet.

I like bet/call. But check/call can be argued for as well.

so u call from EP with A8, u bet into a lot of people with flush draw, get raised, dont have odds to call... Turn bet u have no odds to call, u still call... walk away from the table and start reading some books

Have you ever played live in your life?
I dont know which part your questioning but Calling A8s in ep is a no brainer in a live game. I would even call small raises with it, If you hit your flush someone is always ready to pay you off with their two shitty pair or whatever. Are you saying I wasn't getting implied odds to call on all streets? I know for a fact that this guy would pay me off because he despised me. Where did I play it wrong? The only part I was questioning was my river play, where I believe that I should have checked and called a reasonable bet rather than betting out and getting put in a shitty position with a vulnerable hand.

I check/call any bet on the river, give him a chance to hate-bluff you.
