What\'s the difference between table with numbers/names at Party?
I've noticed over at Party Poker, some tables have names. Others have numbers.
Are the named ones private or something. I'm no quite sure what the story is on that so I've been avoiding the named ones. Figured I didn't want to bust in on somefolks games or drop right into a shark pit! LOL! So can anyone enlighten me? |

The only difference is they have stupid names. If they're private they'll be labeled as such and require a password.

Re: What\'s the difference between table with numbers/names at Party?
I saw on their Jobs page they were looking for a new Table Namer. That probably explains it.
I would guess that the previous guy, who was never a great speller in any case, was fired after he named that particular one "Boss Dipshit". |

actually, i thought this job was eliminated? last person that had it was walter rhea and i don't need to tell you the rest of the story on walter, but suffice it to say his termination was not avoidable. anyhoo, i think party named tables until one point, then just stopped. the names there are probably original names from the time where it was feasible to actually name them all. i'd bet that unless there is a message to convey (special tourney etc), that they will never name another table again. |

I was gonna dip my toes in this thread with the exact same message as yours, but Mike got ahead of me, and his answer was, albeit not 100% correct, still much better so I kept my toes dry instead. Seriously, though, I think it is a sloppy decision by Party to not name all their tables. Hire someone skilled in programming and language stuff, and they will come up with N+1 decent names in no time. The whole playing environment, in view of the important recreational player, would be much better with named tables. (On second thought, perhaps the lobby would be too cluttered with so many named tables of various character length.) Adde |

The numbered tables are rigged. The named tables are legit.
