Default Preflop Raising

When someone raises preflop, (assuming they are not extremely loose)do you assume they have A2xx? In other words, are there many hands not containing A2 that you would consider raising with? ie.: maybe A345 or AAK3?

I don't think I'd ever raise with A345... too much of a drawing hand (A245 w/ suited A, then maybe). If I'm UTG or otherwise the first one in voluntarily, I'd definitely raise with AA3K, A3KK or any A3BB hand (where B = Broadway card.) Any more than one person in ahead of me, I'd be a limper with all of those hands.

Even if the A was suited, I'd wait to catch my four flush and/or deuce/other low on the flop, then I'd raise. That kind of hand wants company to make big payoffs.

That kind of hand is profitable and should be raised preflop.

The problem with raising only A2 and AA hands is it really telegraphes what you have. I like to mix it up just for cover.

It sure depends on the player, although I've often seen PF raising with AArag-rag.

What about AAxx double suited, where xx are neither wheel cards nor broadway cards?

I raised A A double suited last night and not sure it was the right move.

I got more money in the pot when I was less than a coin flip to win the pot. I don't have the exact numbers, but intuition tells me that a flush will be available roughly 35% of the time and I have two outs to the set of aces...

So, I think I would just limp with the hand in the future and see if there is potential for the flush.
