Default Question re: Borgata Comps

So I signed up for my Borgata Player's Card this weekend and then played an 8 hour session of 2/4. Obviously not huge stakes here but when I checked my "comp point balance" this week, I had a little under 4 comp dollars. Oh, I also dropped about 120 bucks on roulette in a half hour which was also rated.

Does that sound right?

I'm honestly asking as I've never really been rated at a casino for poker before. Insight would be appreciated.

Yup. Borg gives .50/hour at 2/4 and $1/hour up to 6/12. Dropping $120 in the pit at that place (and pretty much anyplace in AC) means zilch. Unless you're playing slots or >$50 per hand for a lot of hours, comps are few and far between.

This is why I always make sure to play at least an hour of video poker slots every time I'm there. A friend of mine hasn't paid for a room there in over a year, and he was explaining to me that 1 hour of quarter slots adds up to about 5 hours of $10 blackjack.

Playing poker there is worht $%it compwise. They are pretty good in other areas on comps though. I play a few hours of craps whenever I'm there and I haven't had to pay for a room or a meal in like a year.

That's good. I have put in 4-6 hours of $50 Pai Gow Poker on a weeknight a couple of trips only to be told "sorry", but they took me down to the $39 poker rate I was eligible for anyway.

How dumb do people have to be to used their comp dollars in the shops. I was there the other day and saw people using their comp cards to buy cigarettes and soft drinks. Why would you do this when you can pay cash and spend half the money?

they probably don't plan to come back anytime soon and need to spend off the comp dollars before they expire (180 days). buying cigarettes with excess comp is common, because they are the most "cashable" to resell. you can let your $15 comp dollars sit idle and die, or get $5-6 back selling a pack of Lucky Strike to your friend.
