In my experience, when a guy puts in the last raise on the turn and then checks the river, he is not trying to be sneaky. I bet this for sure.

I prefer to bet, get their money most of the time. If it comes back raised, you can just call to see their cards. If it comes back 3-bet, you can pay that $12 you missed out on by not betting, and call to see their cards. If it was 3-bet, I would indeed have a hard time calling, but I think you are missing a lot of value by not betting.

He probably had a straight flush draw and 'felt sure' he'd hit.
