Re: 5-10 NLH at the MGM -- Villain wants a ruling
Hi Rococo,
I'd just laugh at him and say, "Are you kidding me?" Then, wait for the floor's ruling. This shows some confidence in your hand without making a fuss. I think that if the $300 stands, he'll fold. If the floorman makes a terrible ruling, and the bet is $100, you will have to decide if Villain wanted a cheap showdown or a cheap draw. In either case, you should bet most river cards ($500 or more)--whether you bet a spade or a K is the toughest decision. I think all other cards should definitely be bet strongly. This is a really lame-ass angle. |

Re: 5-10 NLH at the MGM -- Villain wants a ruling
You say its 300 and talk right at him and say you know its 300. He is jsut trying to get a tell on you. Id move all in on the river if he had a big hand he wouldnt ask for a ruling. i called a string bet on someone he got so angry it was obvious he had a big hand......

Re: 5-10 NLH at the MGM -- Villain wants a ruling
somehow i dont think hes looking for a read as much as just being a general LV local dick. i would say "can we make it $200 and just split the difference?" if he is looking for a read he isnt looking for calm and joking ...hes looking for boisterous and defiant.

I didn't make a big issue out of it. I stayed calm and said: "I don't think that there was any question that I intended to bet $300, but I am willing to let you decide whether the bet is $100 or $300."

Re: 5-10 NLH at the MGM -- Villain wants a ruling
the reason I said bluff the river is b/c i thought I knew who the player was...He does this kinda stuff all the time...its his form of tilt...to nitpick all the rules.
If it is who I think it was he isnt using the call as some kind of angle to get you to bluff the river and most likely will want a cheap showdown. -JP |

[ QUOTE ] dave, mgm does have a yellow line on the tables...fwiw [/ QUOTE ] I was gonna say, I've never even been to Vegas, but I was pretty sure that lines actually do exist, and that it bothers me, for reasons like this. [/ QUOTE ] Hey guys, I didn't mean that they weren't physically present. I've seen them in the past, and when they're present, I do my best to use them. However, there are casinos that have "bet lines", but where bets are done as a matter of intent (like a poker game)rather than measured based on whether or not they crossed the line (like a hockey game). In these places, if you toss a chip and it lands in front of you without crossing the line, it's a binding bet, even if you didn't say bet. Likewise if you fumble a chip, and it crosses the line, it's not a bet. As I said, bet lines in poker, by default, aren't binding, but there are places where house rules enforce them. Just depends on if they play poker or hockey where you make your wagers. --Dave. |
