For such a careful writer I wondered why you said "even today".

[ QUOTE ]
For such a careful writer I wondered why you said "even today". [/ QUOTE ] In the paragraph preceding that phrase, I was discussing the hypothetical of going to war for humanitarian reasons in an earlier era. |

Re: Good News
Why give credence to the rantings of a fanatic? Those who are not Muslim criticizing Muslims would instigate the fanatics more. It is up to moderate Muslims to fix this problem. If they remain silent, then we are screwed.
Also, if basic ethics were followed, we would not be having these problems in the Middle East. The three main sins in this situation are: 1)Forming a nation through terrorist tactics (Israel 1949) 2) Murdering innocent people in response (Fanatic Muslim/Arab bombers) 3) Setting a dangerous and evil precedent: The Pre-emptive Strike (War in Iraq) If the first thing did not happen, we would not have suffered the consequences of the other things happening. I believe the real consequences of the War in Iraq will come in the future. |

[/ QUOTE ] For some reason, a poster who supports the killing of innocents that don't agree with him talking about "basic ethics" is hilarious to me. I especially liked the "sins" part. What's that sixth commandment again, Peter666? |

Re: Good News
[ QUOTE ]
I did not change my argument. I still believe whatever steps are necessary to take to achieve the common good would be best for society. I believe in an objective common good based on Ethics. There are societies who define their common good as something else (eg. Communist society) but they are wrong. To answer how far I would go to impose my ideal on society if I had the power? Again, whatever means are necessary. If it requires mass deportation and bloodshed, then so be it. But I doubt this would be the case. And those who remained in the society would be very happy. Re: Good News
As my common good is based on objective ethics as I already stated, it should be obvious that I would not violate those laws but do whatever was necessary within those objective parameters.
That would include the bloodshed of certain 2+2 posters which would not be deemed unethical. |
