This is flat wrong. If the odds of winning the hand are less than the pot odds (or implied odds, if there's any chance a worse hand will call) then betting is wrong.

again... geez. you are, of course, correct in your statement. i should then say that in this case - because there is a reasonable good chance, better than pot odds, that hero's bet will take it down - then he should bet.
