Re: real men dont play hit or miss...
[ QUOTE ]
I'm with you all the way. Hands like this are exactly why not to play small pairs in spots like this. [/ QUOTE ] no that's not true at all. if you just play fit or fold the call should be profitable. if you play it well, playing for pair value sometimes CAN'T possibly make the call worse |

Honestly I don't quite get all the math that goes into it... [/ QUOTE ] This post by Stheif should make it pretty easy to understand the math behind how to play small pairs. Basic Primer on Pairs and Suited Connectors |

Re: real men dont play hit or miss...
FWIW, I think the flop call is marginal but OK.
You have a limper, poster, raiser, and if the blinds are loose this is an easy call. I really think you were probably unlucky that 2 of the 3 blinds folded. E.g. If these players were known to be loose we would have estimated that preflop we were actually getting better than 4-1, more like 5-1. I fold the flop. After you call the flop, how about a turn raise/fold (the guy isn't that maniac to 3-bet a worse hand on the turn) for a cheap showdown? I think this is better than just calling down unimproved. |
