Bring 'em back. Let the moderators deal with the tools who put affiliate spam in their signatures.

You make a valid point.

If we have a half dozen moderators instead of one, we could restore a lot of lost features without overburdening Mat.

Oh yeah. I can never tell who posted in a thread. If they won't allow signatures then they should at least put the name of the poster next to their post.
