It is associated with socialism which has been clearly proved to be a failure

It is associated with the hippie, counter culture movement from of the 60's, which does not appeal to people anymore.

Candidates who are seen as liberal have tended to be crap.

Michael Moore.

This is really silly, though, because liberalism and socialism are complete opposites.

It might be silly, but it goes back to when FDR worked to complete a state takeover of industry in the name of liberalism.

Really? How was it "clearly proved to be a failure?" A good case could be made that communism has been proven to be a failure but for socialism that doesn't seem to be the case. While they are tied to the US economy somewhat, many countries in the EU could be considered socialist and they seem to be doing just fine.

Politics is wierd. Conservatives arent conservative, in fact they are liberal. Liberals are not very liberal, but rather mofe conservative.

Even though liberals are not liberals, they refuse to admit they are liberals and fight to not be called what the're not even though they are.

If liberals would only admit that they not liberal but conservative and conservatives admit they are not conservative but liberal, then everyone can be called what they are, and accept the labels.

So liberalism=good, but conservatives who are liberal make it sound like being a liberal is a bad thing, and being a conservative is a good thing, which is what liberals are. Therefore calling someone a liberal is a good thing, except if they are in fact not liberal but conservative. If you read this far i am truly sorry. I'll stop now.

P.S. There is some truth in this post, but I was going for the most obnoxious post of the year. How did I do?
