yeah krusty can be great.

the moment where bart offers "you can punch me in the face if you'd like" and krusty has his hand reared back is classic.

I think that bart/marge/maggie are much more funny than their "older" characters

marge: "shut up becky - ooooh that would have been sweet" - also the entire assault episode where she gets ripped
maggie: her little parts are funny - i.e. when maggie dances around when bart burns lisa
bart: "one at first - but he'll train others" (in reply to "how many monkey butlers will there be")

He's made me laugh for sure (that's why he's third on my list), but a bunch of times I've just been thinking "meh... next." I think he's featured more than he's worth, on the humor scale. Less Millhouse, more Chief Wiggum!

Patty/Selma and Grandpa used to be funny, but it's been awhile since I've really laughed at anything they've said or done. They milked the humour out of those characters long ago, there's not much left that they can do that will seem new and original...much like the rest of the show, for that matter.

There is a lot of Marge and Lisa battering goin on in this thread... not EVERY character is supposed to be outrageous.... Marge and Lisa basically exist as straight men for Homer and Bart.. Without their reactions to them Homer and Bart would not be funny at all...

The real most boring characters on the Simpsons are Lenny and Karl... the whole "are they gay thing" is pretty old by now.. the only time either of those characterss has made me laugh is in the bowling episode where Marge keeps worrying about Lenny... and they show her having a pic of him at her house

The other most boring character is Maggie... again the whole pacifier not talking thing is old by now

Grandpa used to be one of the funniest characters by far, and I still love him, but he isn't given as many good lines or situations any more.

The show in general has become a lot more mechanical. It's much faster, yet still the intensity is down.
