Default MP Steal A8-Super Thursday

Pretty sure this was cut and dried, but what do you do after Button pushes over this C-Bet? Do you even make that C-Bet in the first place?

My image is not bad, I got short stacked but came back recently, only have shown down KK, AK, 77, QQ, but have been more active than that. Button is a TAG, I don't think he has shown a hand.

Villain was Ansky who may be capable of coming over the top with Air

Once you hit your mid pair on the flop I don't see how you can fold. But don't expect to see the best hand here very often. That play for me is pretty standard with my hand (mid pocket pair). I don't think I'd be "bluffing" here ever.

It's standard for you to coldcall 20% of your stack with a middle pair? I guess you're pushing on all non A, non K flops or something, but it seems like there are better lines than that.

Er, I didn't mean the preflop play was standard. But given the situation, I felt a cold call was correct-- I meant the flop play was standard.

I'm not a good enough poker player to make good decisons with an unsuited mid A on most flops so I fold them 95% of the time.

You are a 4-1 dog to a pair better than 8 and there are not any draws on board so you can probably put the button on a real hand and you are only getting 3-1 to call.

Your stack if you fold is 14BB's which is still workable, you can get away here.

Regards,
Woodguy

Oh OK. I was definitely wondering about the preflop play. What specifically about this situation makes you like a call better than a push? I think I would be pushing almost all the time here.

I knew he knew who I was, and if I pushed I figure he folds all worse hands and calls every better one. I also knew he probably is one of those people who would bet 100% of flops here. I was prepared to go broke on some not so safe boards. Even with a shortstack I give myself credit for being able to make a correct decision on this type of board. Against a standard opponent, I very often will push here, but I here felt a call was best.

I had 9s FWIW.
