Default 50NL: AA

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Button ($65.55)
SB ($20.42)
BB ($45.95)
UTG ($38.65)
Hero ($60)
MP1 ($28.05)
MP2 ($44.05)
CO ($28.85)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
1 fold, Hero raises to $3, 1 fold, MP2 calls $3, 4 folds.

Flop: ($6.75) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $4, MP2 folds.

Final Pot: $10.75

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins $10.75.

The question I have about this hand is, how much should I raise on the flop? I could not check because if he is on a draw he gets a free card.

Is there ever a situation where slowplaying would be good?

I'd never slowplay on this board, and I'd probably pot it instead of ~2/3rd but that's up to you

edit: I generally don't like slowplaying at all, if you want to feign weakness bet flop and check turn, to make it look like a CB

I think if it happened again same flop I would bet the pot, but I was torn between slow playing and betting. And in the end betting won out.

You can't slowplay that board...it's way too straighty/flushy. If the flush or straight card falls your action is killed unless you are beat. If you boat up on the turn, THEN you can consider slowplaying and praying that they hit their hand, but until then you gotta bet here.

Yeah thats what ultimately made me bet was all the flush/straight possibilities. I am glad I made the move to win a little early than to slowplay and possibly lose big late.

Better to win a small pot than lose a gigantic one.

Why slowplay.. you'd bet here if you had raised pf with any ace, no? No reason anyone should think you have a set. Giving free cards can only hurt you... any heart, 8, 10, J and King can give potentionally give someone a better hand (18 cards).

If you feel the need to slowplay... you would do it on a rainbow board of A-9-4. (mind you, there are still some straight possibilities but that's always the case with a set of aces.
