2001FP in Canada
Dell.ca currently has the 2001FP for $729.99 ($70 off). This is much, much higher than some of the deals I've seen at Dell.com when combining coupons. Does Dell.ca ever offer $x off $y purchase coupons? Or is this the best I can hope to get?

Re: 2001FP in Canada
that's actually not a bad price for canada -- lower than the $850 CDN i usually see it for.
GST will screw you though. i've never seen dell.ca coupons. |

Re: 2001FP in Canada
Tax is a killer. It comes to $840 with PST and GST.
I guess buying from the U.S. would be an option, but then I'd have to worry about paying duty and taxes, plus going to pick it up. Probably not worth it. |

Re: 2001FP in Canada
one guy previously said he was able to strike a deal with dell.ca people once he told them about the dell.com deals and got a matching price...perhaps you should give that a shot

I have purchased products from the US valued at over $2000 US and have payed less than $300 CDN in duty and taxes. |

Re: 2001FP in Canada
Find yourself a US address. I paid 480US for mine, then simply paid 90 CAN taxes when I crossed the border with the box.
I believe some companies would accept to receive the package for you also (Deringer maybe ?). |

duty will be at least $300 CDN [/ QUOTE ] Where do you get that from? Duty isn't that much. And I'm pretty sure Dell actually manufactures in the US and since the computer is for his own personal use there should be no duty. Believe me, I just went through all this shipping a bunch from the US to Canada. But even if for whatever reason Canadian customs did insist he pay duty...it won't be anywhere near $300. It's about 10% normally. To the OP...just call customs and ask about it if you can't get a better deal within Canada. They'll tell you exactly what you will or will not have to pay. |
