EPT Copenhagen
I won my seat less than two hours ago, and I'm already regretting it. I mean, it was an FPP satellite, so there was no money lost, but I'm really starting to wish that I had taken the $1,000 for 3rd or 4th instead of the EPT seat, and here's why.
I've emailed Stars 3 times already, and it seems that they really have no part in the tournament at all. Support didn't have any details about the tournament for me. All they could offer is "Show up at the casino on January 29th and you'll be on the list." I'm 18 years old. While buying a round trip plane ticket to Denmark won't be that bad of a burden on me financially, I'm very nervous about travelling to a foreign country alone where I don't speak the language. Who knows if I'll even be able to hail a taxi; and my flight will arrive in the airport about 1.5 hours before the tournament starts...YIKES! A slight headwind and I'm an hour late. What if they don't let me play if I'm late! I don't have a passport. The tournament is in about 3 weeks. Will I be able to get one by then? Is there an acceptable alternative for a passport? I know ZeeJustin qualified, but he's in Nassau at the moment. Are there any other 2+2er's going? Sorry, I'm just sort of flipping out right now. Will someone offer me some advice that might help me with one of my numerous problems? |

Im not trolling and sorry about the "who cares comment" just seems kinda weird bc I thought you were like a high school kid...dont you guys have classes...Im a student and Im also ALOT less serious than most you guys but like seems like the top players here take TONS of time of school...not that I have great attendance or anything just.....I hope they arent making school second to poker. |

Re: EPT Copenhagen
I am sure Stars people will be there to take care of players. It's just they are busy in Atlantis now and that is likely why you can't get much information.

Oh ya you are definitely ready for International travel.... [/ QUOTE ] Time after time, you never cease to amaze me. Do you go to the mall and make fun of red-headed kids because of their red hair? OF COURSE I'M NOT READY FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL! That's what I posted this thread! Also, "somewhere" I heard that a birth certificate and a photo ID is an acceptable alternative, but I wasn't sure. And P.S., yes you are trolling. Half of your posts are trolling. And the other half are crap poker advice. God. |

Re: EPT Copenhagen
Go to the post office on Monday morning early and you can get an expedited passport. It took about 10 days for mine so you have plenty of time. Don't worry about the language barrier, every one speaks English.

Re: EPT Copenhagen
If you fix your passport right now, it won't be a problem. There are no alternates though, you have to have one.
Don't worry about language, EVERY dane speaks pretty good english. People are friendly and helpful. I'd say go, without hesitation. |

Re: EPT Copenhagen
What can I say. The thought of TV, big cash prizes, and meeting cool European poker pros was a little overwhelming.
I'm from Illinois, freezing cold doesn't bother me. |

Re: EPT Copenhagen
First off, Denmark is a great country. Most speak enough english, especially the younger ones. There are two things that stick in my head from my total of 6 weeks spent there over the last 5 years.
1, they love to fight. Steer clear of confrontation in the bars. 2, they tax the hell out of everything, so make sure you have sufficient funds. Cabs are very nice (BMW & Mercedes)...and very pricey. From the State Department website: ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Passport and visa regulations are similar for Denmark, Greenland, and the Faeroes. A valid passport is required. Someone else pointed out you needed an expedited passport. As long as both your parents are US born citizens and don't have a felony on the books you should get it in 2 weeks. Info for that is here State Department Do what you can to take this trip. I'm sure you will enjoy it. FWIW, the women are amazing. Keep this website in mind, and be sure to wrap it up. Enjoy your trip. -Ryan |

Danish people usually speak decent English and taxi/bus drivers, hotel employees etc should be used to dealing with tourists on a daily basis. If the tournament is held at the Copenhagen Casino I believe they normally enforce a dresscode, so you might want to check that in advance to make sure you don't get turned away for not wearing a suit. Copenhagen is a nice city and I'm sure you'll like it. |
