not raising gives him the chance to draw out on you and doesnt force him to define his hand at all. on the flop you got to be pretty sure your ahead so why would you raise?
can people explain to me why they thing this is good. |

first hand at the table [/ QUOTE ] This is a good reason to 3-bet preflop instead of calling with the intent of auto-raising the flop. I like to come out swinging and look like a nutty hyper-LAG early in a session (if the cards permit). Players (at least those who pay attention) make quick judgments of your style and tend not to change that read. |

I'd 3-bet the SB and then bet/raise on the flop. You want control of this hand.
If villain calls your flop bet/raise and checks to you on the turn, bet. If he comes out betting I'd pop him again with a raise and then take the free showdown. Fold if 3-bet on the flop or turn. |
