Ultimate Stratego!

Hey all,

As a personal endeavor, I want to begin the process of programming my own ULTIMATE STRATEGO game, complete with AI, and the whole spiel. Can anyone point me in a direction to get started? (By the by, I find Ultimate Stratego more exciting than the traditional version, and also with less pieces, the AI should be easier to develop).

Also, you know how in chess the programs have gigantic opening books, anyone here a stratego guru that could assist in this area?
