Default Interesting Live Game In a Town

Ok I went to visit my buddy to my old home town, its a small town we were bored, we heard on the radio a "casino" advertised in the town that is like 5 miles from my old home town. We head over there its a bar and on the back theres a bunch of poker tables. Anyway we read the schedule it says:

Monday:Omaha high low 4/8 and 8/16 at night
Friday:No Limit Holdem, min buy in 50, max buy in 200.

and holdem pretty much every other day except thursday when its high low again except 3/6 then 6/12 at night.

Anyway its a small town most people make minimum wage it makes no sense to us how a game this big could be going on, we really dont know what to expect? Anyone ever played in a hidden and probably illegal game? How was it?

We have some theories, we are assuming we will probably be playing with a bunch of drug dealers since this town is a border town with mexico and as I said most people make minimum wage, but the stakes are not something someone making minimum wage could afford to play in weekly. Just wondering how to play in this environment, we were thinking very tight, but aggressive as they are not likely to care about money at all and will most likely be drunk and messing around. We figure ABC poker will do. Also I only listed those two days as those are the days we will be playing. Any suggestions? What does poker theory say you do in this situation? Just want to get a few suggestions before I go and play, thanks.

In my experience, drug dealers play bigger games like 15/30 - 80/160, especially underground.

I've played underground games, and they are fine as long as you keep your head on straight, mind your own business, and stay civil at all times.

Don't worry about strategy. If you're overmatched, quit.

The only way to find out who's in the game is to go. Just make it into a social occasion, as far as they are concerned.

Good Luck

It depends on whether it is a large or small town.

Look, logically, you will want to come drop by and hang out a little bit, feel out the atmosphere, watch some interaction between the players.

In terms of the game, that will take care of itself if you just play your A game and stay adaptive. Good luck and enjoy the experience.
