Please Help with my business

I like the look of the octagon with the pedestal. My problem is space--I'd like to have 2 such tables, but need to be able to put them up after the game.

The collapsible tables with metal legs that I've seen cost as much as the crafted wood tables, and if I were going to pay $400-$600 for a table I'd much prefer the more handsome wood tables.

Is it possible to make a wood table with pedestal, where the table top can be secured to the pedestal, but also be separated for storage?

Also, there are many hand-crafted tables in my area selling between $350-$500 (just for your price considerations).

Did you build that table? Is that solid oak?

It looks like it is a little bigger than the ones I build. Mine are about 53" across, yours looks (from the picture) like it is closer to 60". It looks like a nice table.

I don't line the outer octagon area with felt, nor do cut the chip trays nearly that deep. Some tables don't have chip trays cup in them at all. The reason is if you happen to play a game where you have a lot of chips involved you run out of room for chips very fast, like a tournament for example.

The cupholders in my tables do not have the plastic inserts. I cut the hole all the way through the table and round off the edges. Then I line piece of plywood with either cork or felt (whichever the client prefers) and attach it underneath. It looks good.

We love the look of a solid wood finish. To include a rail, you basically have to build the 'racetrack' style table, which is ok but rather redundant and uninspired. Also most racetracks I've seen are made of plywood.

Actually this table was built by a couple of 2+2ers as a wedding gift. I cant give you all the specifics but one of them will probably see this and maybe they can. I do know that it is my most prized possession and the greatest gift I have ever received. It has been played on many times and gets nothing but compliments. All that has ever been played on it is tournaments and we have never run out of chip room in the chip trays. I like the cupholders because they are removable so they are easy to clean should they get dirty. In my opinion this table is perfect and is something I take very good care of and plan on having forever. Thanks for the compliment and good luck.

Why?

Padded rails are not hard to construct, I do think they take away from the elegance of the table from an asthetic point of view.

Because when I lean on the table, a padded rail is much more comfy to rest my arms on than a piece of wood no matter how pretty it is.

As long as you like the table, then that's most important.

But, honestly, this table just isn't my style.

First off, it's Octagon and I don't like Octagon tables.

Second, it can only seat eight and I like ten.

Third, it has cupholders in it and that, in my opinion, looks trashy.

Fourth, I don't really like the area next to the cupholder with the cutout felt for your chips. Again, this is probalby b/c I prefer real tables to home made ones.

The red felt doesn't necessarily bother me, but I'd prefer it to be a little toned down.

It's just not a real table, it's a home made table. I'm sure whoever did it did a great job and it is nice, in a way. But, it certainly isn't what I'd want if I spent a decent amount of money on a table.

Well from the pictures, it looks like the chip treys are sunken into the table, which does not allow you to push a stack of chips into the middle...do you guys just pick up every chip and place in down on the playing surface everytime there's an allin? i'm not trying to be overly critical, it looks like a very nice table, just wonderin though

It's only a "real" table if it was manufactured in a factory? I don't get it. looks like a very nice table.
