Re: Defending SB with 77.
Hmmm, I might check raise the flop, and if he 3 bets either fold, or call and fold the turn unimproved. I don't think i've ever seen a 5/10 player cap preflop, and 3 bet a check raise on the flop unless he's got a bigger pair than 7's.

looks good to me. it would be nice to have a feel for what hands he would cap with pf here.

It's not super-common, but there are unbelievable idiots out there. Besides, if he's bluffing or overplaying overcards, why make him stop? This looks good as a lose least/win most line. |

Re: Defending SB with 77.
I'd check-raise the flop and call down if raised or 3-bet on any street. 77 is strong enough to handle some extra action on this board and I assume your opponent is going to call down with Ace high. He will probably see a river if not a showdown with hands like KQ and KJ and he will give you too much action with overcard draws.

Re: Defending SB with 77.
I also check/raise the flop. This opponent does not sound like the type who will fold when check/raised on the flop. And even if he does, that's not such a bad result.

Re: Defending SB with 77.
Thinking about how I play, yeah, I probably do play it the same and call down, but I really think I should be finding the fold button more often in these situations. Unelss I had seen the player act like a maniac or play like an idiot before, I can't possibly see hero being ahead here very often if his flop check raise is 3-bet.
