Default Idiot Question..

This question's probably been answered a million times, but I can't find the answer so if you could help me out or direct me to a specific thread that would, plz do.

Ok. Say it's folded to me and I have 88 on the button and raise, SB folds and BB goes all in. I put him on a range of hands, say 22-QQ, Ax, Any 2 paint for this example. Using PokerStove I see that I'm a 3-2 favorite based on those range of hands, but I won't have PokerStove when I'm playing like. So how would I go about calculating those odds? Thanks.

Default Re: Idiot Question..

I guess it depends how well you can do math in your head but basically you break it down.

99-QQ: you are a 4-1 dog and should win about 5 of 24.
22-77: you are a 4-1 fav and should win about 29 of 36.

Combined you win about 34 of 60

For the paint there are AK-A9, KQ-KT, QJ-QT, JT (16 ways each) 176 possible "coinflips" ... You should win around 100 of these

And A2-A7,A8 96 + 8 = 104 hands where you are a 2-1 fav. You should win about 70 of these.

Total you win around 200 of 330 so you are a 200:130 or about a 3:2 fav by my quickish estimate.
