Re: Nominations for Best \"Rock\" Album of 2005

no album has ever affected me as much as Illinois. [/ QUOTE ] I've heard a few songs from this album and while I don't dislike them, I don't quite get the appeal. However, I've only heard them on my computer so perhaps I'll just buy the CD and give it a listen on my real stereo. |

Sufjan, for sure, but i'll throw in a vote for My Morning Jacket's "Z"
also: Springsteen's new one, the new Son Volt, and the Dylan "No Direction Home" album is fantastic |

Re: Nominations for Best \"Rock\" Album of 2005
This year was pretty disappointing for new music, especially compared to last year. Anyway the best album of 2005 is:
Spoon - Gimme Fiction Honorable mention to: Doves - Some Cities, and Giant Drag - Hearts and Unicorns. Anyway, I often tend to classify albums in my mind not by when they came out, but by when I heard them. In that case the following albums are all ones that I got into this year, but were released earlier (all of these records are far better than anything listed above, or anything in this entire thread): Autolux - Future Perfect Blonde Redhead - Misery is a Butterfly Stereolab - Dots and Loops |

Re: Nominations for Best \"Rock\" Album of 2005
since we have the Murderer's Row of hipsters focusing on this thread, this might be a good time to ask the question that I've been pondering for a while
why are the band names/album titles/song titles so gay nowadays? |

I guarantee anyone would like this album. Who cares that the names are eccentric. Oh, obviously someone who has no clue.
