Default World Series Schedule ?

Are the dates for the World Series set, or are they based on when both the NLCS and ALCS end?

As of right now, it is slated to start on Saturday. If the Astros win tonight, will they wait until Saturday to start the World Series?

Thanks.

Yes, it's starting Saturday in Chicago, regardless.

Yeah, it starts Saturday no matter what.

It's structured so that Games 6 & 7 would be on Sat & Sun if necessary. I've assumed this is always done to reach the broadest possible audience. But isn't Saturday the worst night for TV? So how is this an advantageous slot to broadcast the showcase for your product?

Saturday is the worst night for TV as it applies to network programming. There's a clear difference between programming a sitcom and a major sporting event.

Could you elaborate? It seems to me that most major sporting events on Saturdays take place in the afternoon.

People still go out on Saturday night, so I don't see how a major sporting event puts a dent into that. Sure, your fanatics are going to stay home or go somewhere to watch the game, but the casual fan isn't.

Perhaps I'm not thinking globally?
