Default Belterra might be my brand new favorite.

They have a poker rate for the hotel, details are a bit sketchy but it appears you just go to the casino host and ask. You get your room for $50 if they have any available and no minimum play requirements.

They own an Inn in Vevay,IN 20+ miles down river and you can call ahead and stay for like $30 a night. I didn't catch the name of the Inn.

I went up Friday with the MRS and we stayed in the hotel, very nice, ate at the Jeff Ruby steakhouse, very very nice and I played a ton of poker. The poker was even more tender and juicy than the steak.

I was playing 3-6 Friday night and it was no foldem holdem, runner runner straights, runner runner flushes and a miracle card on demand. I failed to adjust my game and ended up stuck a little after a guy busted my top two pair with two little suited cards and called me down to catch a runner runner flush, I decided to have a little fun. I turned into the ultimate LAG, called the Blinds with any two suited cards and would yell, "I'm Sooted!" everytime I called. Everytime I bet I would say, "Becarefull, I am Sooted!"

Right in the middle of my dog and pony show, I start talking to a young guy in the next seat and it turns out He and his buddy are newbies here at 2+2. I thought to myself, This is a hell of an example to set for newbies.

After a few minutes of the dog and pony show, I tightend up and only played premium hands but I would still run my mouth. Both of the players that had been sucking out on me now started betting into me when I had good hands. By 1:30 AM both had rebought and busted again and I was up $73. I hated to leave but I was so sleepy, I couldn't stand it and I wanted to get back to the poker room early to try and take advantage of the people that played through the night.

There is nothing better than poker players that are sleepy and stuck. That was one sweet 10-20 game at 7 am Saturday morning.

Anyway, the two new 2+2's were super nice guys and I hope they don't think I play like that all the time unless they are considering betting into me when I have the nuts.

Sorry I can't remember their names but hopefully, they will reply to this post and let us know what they thought of Belterra's new poker room.

I looked for you at Caesars last night; it was my first trip in about a month (curse you Party Poker WSOP qualifiers!).

It went very well; repeating the mantra "play perfect poker! play perfect poker!" seemed to work as I had by in large a mistake free night. The 10/20 must move game started tight and passive, but then became loose and passive. Giddie up! My adjustments worked, and I left 4.5 hours later up 25 BB. The game was still good when I left, but I felt my concentration waning and decided to leave.

I want to check out Belterra, but it looks to be about 2 hours from me. Hard to justify when Caesars, as fishy as it is, is half the distance.

Caesars has a $100 NL tourney next Saturday at 11AM w/rebuys. I may go.

I made it down to Belterra Saturday. IT'S A GREAT ROOM! I was playing 2-4 cause I was broke (Yes, they had 2-4!) It was an insane game. It's nice to finaly have a quality place to play poker near Cincinnati. Ended up $100 after about 5 hours of play. Steamboatin, Is G.V. even worth checking out?

Heh. Got to wonder if I was sitting at the same table as you Greg. Did we nod at each other out by the parking lot a little bit after you left? If so, good playing with you. (And, as rarely as possible, against you.) I ended up $150 flat after a total of 6 or so hours of play.

Got to echo the sentiments heard here so far. The Belterra room was clean, well-lit, and smoke-free. I haven't played much casino poker, so I don't have much to go on but I generally felt the dealers were easy to work with. Some of them were obviously new but most of them dealt with things well.

I wish I could have stayed longer.

And I wish I HADN'T stayed longer at the GV before going to Belterra. They were only spreading 5-10 and 10-20 and while I held my own at 5-10 Friday night I really didn't have the $$$ to be playing at that level and should've known better. Sure enough, Saturday morning a combination of some bad play and variance led to me losing a bit more there than I made at Belterra later in the day.

Next time I get the chance I'm definitely going back to Belterra!

Hey, that was me! It was good playing against you to (Althought I did always hate it when you were in a hand with me!). I thought the dealers did a fine job. We will probobly cross paths again at Belterra. I'll introduce myself if I see you again. Good luck!

The Grand Victoria is the Pacfic Poker of the B&M world.

Rumor has it that Grand Victoria is going to start spreading a 3-6 game.

I always enjoyed playing at the Grand Victoria and I have ran well up there but hands down, Belettera is a nicer and better run room. They act like they actually want to keep poker players around.

Is the rake equally bad at each?
This would be my top concern.

I can hardly stand to play 4/8 in tunica now with the $4 max-rake (and wasn't thrilled with it even when it was ONLY $3 max at 10%). I'm spolied by the more favorable rake of the online game I guess.

As I recall....don't the Indiana card-room rake $6 max?
Is there an extra $1 for JP-drop and then an extra $1 for tip on top of that so that you're looking at $8 taken out at the max (obviously not all the pots will get big enough for the $6 max....but with the action that I envision there I suspect a large majority of the pots do).

Overcoming $6-$8 withdrawn from most EVERY freaking hand is a lot to overcome at the 3/6 or 4/8 level no matter how bad the opponents are.

anyway - refresh my memory on the rake and JP-drop (if any) at the Vic and Belterra.

Ceasar's IN and Grand Vic are 10% up to $5 max. Belterra is $4 max and I believe six players automatically takes the rake down to $2 at Belterra.

Ceasar's In and Grand Victoria both have Bad Beat Jackpots so there is a $1 JP drop.

The dealers at Belterra keep their own tips and I like that a lot. It encourages a dealer to improve.
