Re: Standard Deviation of those of you who use pokertracker.
why hasnt there been a discussion of what this actually means in terms of play (ie style and profitable decisions)
my sd might be one of the highest ive seen here but i dont have enough hands in PT to back it up... |

Re: Standard Deviation of those of you who use pokertracker.
I don't think it matters much. The more coin flipping you do the greater your swings will be. Winrate is the only thing that should really matter, though if you can achieve the same winrate with less variance you'd clearly want to go with less variance, to minimize the amount of time you feel like putting a bullet in your brain. The tougher the competition the less you will be able to minimize your variance without adversely affecting your winrate, imo.

Re: Standard Deviation of those of you who use pokertracker.
I've just started to take poker on full time. [School sucks... I'm sure my grades will suck as well over the next two years. That's if I even make it that long]. I have played in the 200NL up to the 2000NL, both ring and 6max games. Most of my hands have been played at 600 and 1000 ring games and 6max tables. I have played nearly 107,000 hands since the beginning of April.
37BB/100 hands I have taken onto the 1000NL 6max tables in which I am multi-tabling 4 games simultaneously. It can be very frustrating at times but it sure beats school. "It does matter who wins or loses, but who takes the worst beating." - X-Files Reminded of PartyPoker... If you play there, I'm sure you would agree. |

Re: Standard Deviation of those of you who use pokertracker.
I apologize for being so clueless, but I just graduated from high school, and I've never taken a statistic class before. So what does all this standard deviation stuff mean in terms of poker?

Re: Standard Deviation of those of you who use pokertracker.
the variance, or fluctuation, in your "rate of return"
not exactly sure that would look, probably like some sort of hyperbolic curve, wonder if you could get an equation and project future bankroll size and whatnot hmm |
