how do i bet this?
Playing 6 handed 1,2 no limit on stars. I have aq off on button, no calls to me. I raise to 8. (hero 120$) Both blinds call me (avg around 70$) Flop comes kjten all clubs, and I have the ace of clubs. So i flop a straight with the royal draw. My question is whether it is okay to check when the pot is checked to me. I ended up making a pretty measily 8 dolalr bet hoping for calls and got none. Should i just bet normally and hope I get calls by top pair?

Re: how do i bet this?
Bet it. If they don't have some kind of hand, they're not calling no matter what you bet. No sense in letting an ace catch a queen or a queen catch an ace, and splitting the pot if a flush doesn't come. I would bet "normally" too, whatever that is for you. ~$12-$15 here? If they were willing to call $8, they would probably call something slightly larger.

Re: how do i bet this?
That is a scary board for both you and your opponents, and it's certainly not going to get any less scary. If you didn't get any action with your flop bet, then you weren't going to get any if another club fell, the board paired, or another broadway card came up.
On the other hand, by betting, you may get a welcome checkraise from a flopped two pair, set, sucker straight, etc. You'll probably get a call from the naked Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] that is drawing to one out. |
