ONline poker IS boring if you are watching! so, what is the big deal.

Winning (earning) 1K a month playing low limit 40 hours a month is not that bad though.

Just smile as you walk past him to the bank.

playing online cash games is very boring to me too. so much so that i just could not force myself to play enough to make my nut, and instead relied on live games for that.

well, staying out all night playing poker, and sometimes for a couple days at a time at casinos really put a strain on my home life. i wasn't able to see my kids enough to suit me, and i'm sure them. i HAD to find a way to play mostly online for a living, or else i had to find another job.

so, i experimented with different forms of poker, going from no limit/ pot limit, then back to limit, which i do enjoy more. while i was winning at all the levels and types that i played in the long term, the bankroll swings were not good at all for my mental state. now, when i had a really bad losing day/week, i was in a bad mood around my kids, which made me feel guilty.

so, i started playing sit & go tourneys. i enjoyed these much more than any ring games because they move the blinds in such a way that you MUST play hands at some point. i enjoy the strategy involved almost as much as limit ring games, and the "bad beats" can no longer cost me several hundred dollars as they could in no limit/pot limit games. there are still swings of course, but they really don't bother me nearly as much as they did in ring games.

right now, the money isn't quite as good as it was, but that is just a matter of moving up in buy-ins. eventually, i will be making more (now if i could just get a rakeback deal on party).

now, i can't play online enough to suit me, which on the downside is putting a minor strain on my wife's mood. oh well, it's still better than a job.

short version: have him try sit & go's.
