This doesn't really address Party's problem--I'm not particularly concerned about *me* seeing observer spam about bots, cheating, hacking, etc.

Yeah, I guess your right, all the new players will get suckered/freaked out by these scams.
Why dont they have it off by default then you have the option of turning it on, that would solve the problem.

I had a nice discussion with a couple of fish at a table the other day about a program that supposedly showed other's hole cards. I explained how such a program is nigh impossible due to encrypted communication between the servers and player's computers. Also, that if a program did work/exist, or a player cheated in any way (collusion mostly), that Party would ban their acount and/or return funds to the cheated players. I think they both felt a lot better when I was done and the super-fish to my right bled a bunch of bets to me over the next half hour. Fish that trust the system are +++EV.
