Aces and deep stacks.
I'd really like to know more about pot control in deep-stacked situations.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter UTG ($43.25) UTG+1 ($104.10) Hero ($276.30) MP1 ($335.07) MP2 ($113.35) MP3 ($109.65) CO ($241.20) Button ($153.10) SB ($100.30) BB ($62.25) Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50. UTG calls $1, 1 fold, Hero raises to $5, 3 folds, CO calls $5, 2 folds, BB calls $4, UTG folds. Flop: ($16.50) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, Hero bets $12, CO calls $12, BB folds. CO is semi-loose, semi-aggressive. Turn: ($40.50) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) What's my plan for the rest of this hand? |

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
i'd make a pot sized bet on turn
not much to be afraid of. unless he's a real donk and is calling that 5x bb raise w/ a 4, you don't got much to worry about (other than 66 or 22 <---huge DONK) so yeah...raise...BIG |

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
Well, with the deep stacks, 66 or 44 wouldn't be awful, and if he doesn't mind playing suited connectors in position with deep stacks, I don't think that 45s, 43s, or 64s are completely out of the question.

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
your turn decision is up to u. personally i give up here. i dont your villain has a hand that can take too much heat, but i dont want to find out. i give him 77+/x [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]x [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] as his range so u make the choice.

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
I've been check/calling the turn, then leading or check/calling the river in spots like this lately. Sometimes you are giving a free card for a flush draw, but often you are getting bluff money or cutting your losses against a monster.

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
Hey Anacardo,
I like a bet of ~$30-$40. If he calls, bet 1/2 pot on a non diamond river and fold to a raise. Villain has a fairly wide range of hands here... he could have medium pockets, a flush draw, a monster, or he could be calling w/ any two if he's an AK cop. No reason to assume you're behind, so value bet. |

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
a 4 is definetly not impossible from a semi-loose player (as you said he was) so I would relly watch out, especially since I've lost too much on hands just like this one last week. Although checking is still too weak IMO so a decent bet (20ish?)and see what happens

Re: Aces and deep stacks.
I dont think you can shy away from the bullets that easily JUST because a pair flopped and JUST because villain called. Fish do that all the time. Yes they are deep stacked, but villain could be drawing for anything. I bet out the turn maybe 2/3rds the pot and assess from there. If villain re-raises give it up, if villain calls, check/assess on the river.
