Super System 2
I am thinking about purchasing Super System 2. What do you guys think about this book (feel free to give pros and cons)? What games does it cover? etc...

Re: Super System 2
I think the book is a must have...but not for the reasons you would think. Alot of the info is standard stuff, but the Mike Caro section, the online section, and the section on Triple Draw are very good IMHO, it can not hurt to have it in your poker book liabrary.

Re: Super System 2
I found the book somewhat disappointing.
The NLHE section is duplicated from the original. If that's not hubris, I don't know what is. You mean to tell me Brunson hasn't learned anything new in 30 years? The NLHE section in SSI (and duplicated in SSII) is written for a specific cash game - deep stack. Brunson could have written a tournament chapter, or a chapter on the max buy-in internet games. Or he could have written a section on pot limit holdem. As for the other sections, Negreanu's is the best. Omaha chapter by Berman and limit holdem chapter by Harmon were disappointing. Nothing new in Caro's material that he hasn't written or said before. |

The section on Omaha is worth the price.

Re: Super System 2
The limit section is very well written but it's nothing new if you've read SSHE. The Omaha 8 is very good and is a must for the beginner O8 player. I have heard that the Stud Hi/Lo is great but I haven't read it. If you don't have SS1 I think the No Limit section is a must read for any serious player. Caro's stuff is nothing new and there is a lot of fluffy sections, but I think it is a valuable addition to any poker players library.

Re: Super System 2
300 pages of complete crap mixed with 300 pages of mediocrity.
Did you know you could flop a double belly buster to Q6? |

[ QUOTE ]
The section on Omaha is worth the price. [/ QUOTE ] No it is not. The sections on Stud8b and 2-7 triple draw probably are. If you have never played PLO before there are much better places to start, if you have played it before you already know most of this crap. The O8b section is decent, LHE, is ok, the writting in all of it sucks. |

Re: Super System 2
I bought it, but I definitely think there are better places for your money. If you're happy with your hold 'em game (Already own SSHE and GSIH) and want to learn other games, it might be worth it just for the triple draw section (which is excellent).

Re: Super System 2
Hi binions:
I thought the Caro section didn't even belong in the book. It's not that there is anything wrong with it, but as you point out there's nothing new here. Also, to me it's basic entry level material and this book is suppose to be at a higher level than that. Best wishes, Mason |
