Default 2 quick So Cal No limit questions

Does anyone know of rooms in So Cal that spread a 1/2 NL game? Both Commerce and the Bike are 2/3 at the $100 buy-in tables, just wondering if there are any rooms using $1 and $2 blinds.
Second, can anyone tell me if there are NL games with buyins below $100 spread at HG, The Bike and Commerce? Have a couple non-poker playing buddies that want to check out a Poker room but dont want to buy in for $100 and dont want to play limit. Thanks for any info.

hey now,

I think hollywood park off the 105 (near LAX) in Inglewood spreads a 1/2NL for $100 buy in.

The Hustler Casino in Gardena (off the 110 @ Redondo Beach Blvd) spreads a $50 NL game with blinds @ 1/2.

I also heard that Hawaiian Gardens spreads a $40 1/2 game.

Hope that helps.

The Bike, Hustler and Hawaiian Gardens all spread games with blinds of 1/2 and in the case of Hawaiian Gardens also 1/1. The Commerce may too but I haven't been by in a few weeks.

The Bike may be a good bet with $40 buy-ins but I haven't actually seen where the tables are located. I would think they would be in back of the main room near the corner bar.

Hawaiian Gardens has several games with a $20 buy and some with a $40 buy. They keep the games in the bar and there seems to be very much a party atmosphere. It seems you need to be very young to play or else you will look like a pervert (that's what I felt like when I tried it once while killing time ).

At the Hustler last night they seemed to have about four $50 buy-in (I think it was $50 - it wasn't more) games going. I'm guessing these games have 1/2 blinds and some nights you get to see the biggest stud game in the world going in the nearby back corner (it was last night).

Take several buy-ins. The games seem to be a donk fest and I've heard of relatively huge wins but the collection and jackpot drop take several buys per hour off the table.

Anyway, have fun.

HP and commerce are all 2/3$ for their $100 NL, the only 1/2$ + 100$ buy-in I have ever seen in L.A. was at the Normandie Club, which is off Rosecrans off the 110. It only goes sometimes and is full of props.
Oceans 11 spreads a 40-80$ buyin with 1/2 blinds.
As for under 100$ games, you got a $40 at the bike with 1/2 blinds, a $50 at Hustler with 1/2 blinds, and Oceans 11 $40 with 1/1 blinds. I tried the bike $40 game today and I must say the rake is brutal. They have trouble keeping any of the tables full all the time, so you usually end up with 7 players and 3+1 going down the hole.

I think Ocean's 11 has a 1-1-1 game, and a 1-2 game as well. Also Viejas has these games as well.

Thanks for the info guys. I have not played live in probably about 8 months. These short buy NL games are just what I was hoping to find. I have a few buddies that play at our home game but wont be comfortable with a $100 buyin. I wonder, are these $40 and $50 games worth sitting in for a 2+2 type of player or would I be better off just going to the standard $100 or $200 buyin games?

Don't plan on making a living in these games. That said, the popularity of NL is so great and the buy-in so low that these games are almost always extremely loose crazy from what I've seen. The collection is proportionally huge but you won't find low limit regulars trying to nurse one buy-in like they do in the Las Vegas spread limit stud. So even though the clubs take three or four buy-ins per hour off the table five or far more times that many buy-ins are fed in so a decent player can make a score and probably even beat it as long as the games stay good.

PS Also note the drop is taken from the pot, few of which you will win in such a loose game so if you play sensibly it won't hurt as much as you think.
