Would AQ bet that flop after pfr? Check behind, this is a bad spot for a bluff imo. Have a go on the turn, you have position. I'm calling that flop bet with any pocket pair, and maybe check raising.

Doesn't this mean AQ should bet the flop?

Good in theory, however I don't see your average opponent thinking this way, which is what I was getting at.

I wasn't getting into the theory of whether you SHOULD bet the flop with AQ, and sammy, I agree.

I'm not sure, but I think this was an appropriate flop to check rather than make a continuation bet. My thinking is that given your raise, the flop almost certainly did not hit you, and if it hit your opponent, you're basically drawing mostly dead, and if it didn't hit him, he probably had a good pair to start with, and is ahead for that reason. I'm really not sure about that, but I think I check behind and hope, even against this guy (maybe especially against this guy, who looks laggy enough to call just about any CB). I mean, this is basically a horrible flop; you're in against a guy that could have basically anything, QJ, QT or a legitimate hand. Even if you hit later in the hand, you're not going to know if you caught up. Maybe I sound weak, but I think I want to play this hand as cheaply as possible.

I like betting the turn, though, given that it put a flush draw on the board and he has checked to you twice. You have to do it, but I'm still not comfortable with this hand. Frankly, against this laggy an opponent, who has simply called twice, I am beginning to wonder which end of the leash I am on. (On second thought: You need information here badly, so maybe a pot-sized bet here would have told you something--he calls that and you have serious problems, IMO).

River: yuck. He either has you crushed or pulled off a good bluff, and I have absolutely no idea which. Good fold.

I think the only things I would have done differently would have been to check behind on the flop (and I am not sure that's correct), and bet more on the turn.

Man, this one is pretty tough.

As you said, this guy can have any 2. If you check the flop, I think chances are big you will be folding the best hand on the turn if he comes out betting. Cause you don't plan to call the turn unimproved if he bets, right?
