I figured after he checked the river that he had been bluffing.

But I didn't rule out that he had a mid PP or something like that. And I'm not so sure he would've folded a hand like that.

I figured that if I had him beat then it was best to just check. If I didn't have him beat, then I shouldn't try to push. I never put him on a total bluff that caught a pair of 4s on the river.

I'm a very safe player....maybe too safe there...oh well. At least I'm still in it.

haha. you're a very passive player. at least since i've been watching. you gotta switch gears and grab those blinds or else the big stacks are going to continue to pound you

Heres the hand if others want to commment:

JQos in BB. 60000 or so chips, blinds 3000/6000.

SB raises 6000 preflop. I call

Flop: A-K-x, 2 hearts. He bets 6000, I call.
Turn: rag. He bets 6000, I call.
River: rag. He checks.

I have about 25000 left. Whats the move?

I checked it...figured that if he had a A, K, or pp that he wasn't going to lay it down and if he had less that I'd win by checking. Turns out he had 4-5 and caught a 4 on the river.

I'm still not too upset with how I played...better safe than sorry, and he hasn't been a rock exactly either, so I wouldn't rule out him calling on a pair of 4s with such a big pot out there.

LOL...quite a few times people have watched me, they've ended up saying that. We've gotten into quite a few debates about it...I'll try to dig up the old threads if I can.

Let me just say for now that I've heard many arguments that I shouldn't be so passive, but I've found my style to be very successful. I think too many people panic when they get a little low on chips when often times they could wait for a better hand. IMO having 8x the BB is nothing to worry about at all.
